Mert Akkök plays the flute for his beloved animals in his living room, a place of solace and comfort for the 70+ strays he has welcomed and rescued on his farm just south of Istanbul. Joining the growing number of city dwellers moving to the countryside, Mert's noble purpose is to care for all of his four-legged friends. His blind horse, Reyhan, is drawn to the mellow sounds of the music and has even damaged Mert's saxophone in her enthusiasm. Through it all, Mert's door remains open, providing his furry family with a safe haven and the assurance of a good future. “We enjoy each other's company,” he says. “They're like my kids now, and would only give them to decent and good people who can take very good care of them.”

Afghanistan, Kabul, 03/07/2022. Nowadays in Afghanistan, according to the WFP projections, 19 milions of people suffer from severe food insecurity, and around 4 milions children from malnourishment. Nearly half of the whole population of the country depends on food aid. In each district of capital city Kabul are handed out monthly 5 litres of oil, 6 kgs of beans, 1 kg of salt and 50 kg of flour for family unit. The Talebans ensure security and control of the order during the distribution of food aid.

In 2015, more than one million people crossed European borders, most of them Syrian refugees escaping war and the surge of the terrorist group Islamic State in their country of origin. In this picture taken on the Balkan route, a group of Syrian friends is helping a family carrying a person in wheelchair out of mud. Most of the refugees have walked from Greece to Germany, marching towards temporary open borders to seek asylum in Europe. During the long trajectory, they have encountered walls and obstacles, but also solidarity and support.
