🇮🇹 La regione di Arkhangelsk, nella Russia settentrionale, ha il più alto numero di villaggi abbandonati del Paese. Questi villaggi hanno iniziato a svuotarsi dopo il crollo dell’Unione Sovietica quando tutte le fattorie sono state chiuse. Il fotografo si è recato in questa regione e ha trovato alcuni villaggi con un solo abitante rimasto. Nonostante le difficili condizioni di vita, gli ultimi residenti non vogliono abbandonare la regione nella quale sono nati, affermando che moriranno nella loro terra. Il progetto focalizza l’attenzione sul modo di vivere in Russia e sugli abitanti, dimenticati e sepolti dalla neve.
🇬🇧 The region of Arkhangelsk, in the Russian North, has the highest number of abandoned villages in the country. The villages began to empty out after the collapse of the USSR when all the farms were shut down. The photographer travelled to the region and found some villages with just one resident left. Despite the difficult living conditions, the last residents do not want to leave the region saying that they were born there and that they will die in their own land. This project focuses on real Russian life and people, forgotten and covered by the snow.
