Stefania Carraturo was born in Naples and spent her early childhood in Paris – a city with which she has maintained a strong bond – before settling in Rome, her adopted city. From the very beginning, her personal development has been intertwined with a multicultural sensibility. She graduated in Modern Foreign Languages and Literature and is a lecturer in French language and literature; this background in the humanities and literature informs the narrative structure of her reportage.

Her professional approach to photography took shape following a painful event that prompted her to seek a new channel of communication through art. She trained at the European Institute of Design, where she undertook courses in fashion, street photography, reportage, and natural and urban landscapes, and honed her skills in photojournalism and documentary photography through annual masterclasses with leading figures on the international scene.

She works as a photojournalist, collaborating with the publication Oasi Park News, where she writes articles on current affairs and local developments, documenting local and national events through investigative reporting and on-the-ground coverage.

She is the creator of two emotionally impactful long-term projects in which the camera lens becomes a tool for social investigation and the poetic narration of reality: *Here comes the Sun* (2019–2022), set against the backdrop of ‘La Locanda dei Girasoli’ in Rome, which documents the inclusion of young people with cognitive disabilities in the workplace. *Come una Favola* (since 2023), an ongoing reportage project documenting the authenticity and talent of the inclusive theatre company Abracadown, for which she has been the official photographer since its inception.

Her work has been published in magazines and received international awards. It was also exhibited at photography festivals in Italy and abroad, as well as at contemporary art exhibitions and cultural events.
