There is a form of poverty that affects the daily lives of more than two million families in Italy: energy poverty. Over the last ten years, Banco dell’energia has been supporting people in economic and social hardship through direct actions designed to fight it.
Marco Garofalo’s photographs trace ten years of commitment across the country: from paying energy bills regardless of the provider, to replacing obsolete appliances with new ones, to setting up Renewable and Solidarity-based Energy Communities, from training in mindful consumption to improving the energy efficiency of partner organisations’ buildings.
These are images of a process of transformation, showing the daily and often silent work of those who provide practical solutions to a structural problem, restoring dignity and continuity to people living at the margins of the energy system.
