OPEN CALL FOR THE NONPROFIT WORLD 2025: SELECTED NGOGiammarco Sicuro for Emergency
The Artisans of Prosthesis

In the Sulaymaniyah region there is only one hospital specialized in the creation of prosthetics for amputated limbs. EMERGENCY, an Italian NGO, founded it to respond to a demand that was growing significantly. Iraq, according to the “Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor”, is one of the countries most contaminated in the world by mines and war remnants. Most of these devices were manufactured by European and North American companies.
