The World by Touch was carried out in 2024 in a boarding school for blind and partially sighted children in Sebeta, Ethiopia. Growing up within an institutional environment, the children learn to navigate the world through touch, sound, and spatial memory. The prints were later manually perforated, transforming the images into tactile surfaces — an attempt to translate visual experience into a form that can also be felt.

Aleksandra Kossowska is a Polish documentary photographer and photojournalist based in Warsaw, working across Central and Eastern Europe. Rooted in her background as an archaeologist and journalist, both from the University of Warsaw, her practice centers on long-term projects exploring displacement, disability, migration, and the lives of communities often excluded from public visibility.
She earned her B.A. with distinction from the Institute of Creative Photography (ITF) in Opava, Czech Republic, where she is currently completing her Master’s degree. She is a member of Women Photograph and works as a photojournalist for East News.
Her work has been recognized internationally. In 2026, she received The Alexia Portrait Mentor Grant with Gregory Heisler for her project The World by Touch and was runner-up for The Alexia Health Grant. She was selected for the 13th New York Portfolio Review, shortlisted for the World Report Award at the Festival della Fotografia Etica.
She is the co-founder of Poleczki.art, an independent photography center in Warsaw that combines a gallery, library, studio, and educational space dedicated to contemporary photography.
