World Report Award – Partnership

Documenting Humanity 2026

Announcement of a new collaboration between the Festival of Ethical Photography and The Alexia

The Festival of Ethical Photography is pleased to announce a new collaboration with The Alexia, a granting organisation at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. The Alexia is dedicated to promoting the power of visual storytelling as a tool for awareness and positive change.

The Festival and The Alexia are united by a shared mission and believe in photography’s ability to generate a meaningful social impact. Now more than ever, they recognize the importance of supporting those who, with dedication, perseverance, and often at great personal risk, document our reality, bringing to light stories that often fall outside mainstream narratives.

Through grants, scholarships, and special projects, The Alexia promotes visual storytelling to illuminate critical global issues, supporting documentary photographers and filmmakers whose work informs, fosters cultural understanding, and inspires meaningful change.

As part of this collaboration, The Alexia will award two special prizes to the finalists of the World Report Award|Documenting Humanity, selected:

    • From the Spotlight Award category the prize of € 1.000,00.
    • From the Student Award category the prize of € 500,00.

The jury will be composed of Bruce Strong, Claudia Strong, Alberto Prina and Aldo Mendichi.

The Festival organization will produce the exhibits of the two Alexia special prizes, which will be displayed in the World Report Award area of the Festival alongside all the winners and special mentions of the 2026 contest. The photographers selected for these prizes will also have the opportunity to travel to Italy to present their work at the event.

This new partnership represents an important step in strengthening support for ethical, conscious photography that can make a tangible impact on the world.
